Overview of Setia Alam, Selangor, Malaysia

This is an overview guide in Setia Alam. Hope it's useful for those who
- plan to visit Setia Alam
- plan to buy property and live in Setia Alam

Overview

Setia Alam is an area owned and developed by SP Setia corporation. The whole are consist of various range of houses (apartments, condo, double stories, triple stories, villa, bungalow). Wow, there's all kind of housing. There's also many shopping mall, which the most high end mall is called Setia Mall. Others include Tesco and Aeon Big. Besides that, there's a convention center too.

It's situated beside the NKVE road, and also beside Bukit Raja. Below is the map for it

Schools

There's various government school (Malay schools, Indian schools) as well as a private school here (Tenby International & Private School Setia Eco Park).

Traffic

The traffic is a nightmare. Although it still can't match the traffic nightmare in Kepong or Puchong, it's not far from it. The main road to Setia Alam is via the dreaded NKVE. And whenever it's raining or the road having accident, there will be traffic jam! Worse, accidents happen 3-4 days out of 5 working days in NKVE. Unbelievable.

In summary, expect to get stucked at least 40 minutes daily from Setia Alam toll to Damansara toll on working hour. Same thing happen when you going home.

If you are coming home at 6-7pm, expect to get stucked in jam after Setia toll too. There's way too many people living in Setia Alam, and everyone is returning home. So, it's like jam in NKVE + jam inside Setia Alam itself.

Food

Various kind of food here. Japanese, Korean, Thai, fast food, mamaks, chinese stalls, malay stalls, steamboats. Well you name it, usually they have it. Fast food includes McDonald, KFC, Domino, Texas Chicken.

There's at least 6 chinese coffee shops with many stalls inside it. Plenty of choices and it will take some years before you get bored with those foods.

Safety

Overall, feel quite safe. But personally never witness any snatch thieve case. However, witnessed plenty of "mat rempits" roaming around the streets on Friday, Saturday night. Those are a menace.
