Guide in Krabi (Aonang) the gateway to Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Phuket!

Overview

This coastal town has some nice and long beaches. Very near to nearby attractions such as Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Koh PangNga, and even Phuket. All accessible via boats and took around 1-2 hours. There's a lot of Muslims in the area and expects quite a number of halal restaurants.

Krabi town has night market which it's the main attractions. The popular beach is Aonang beach that host plenty of hotels and guesthouses which is 30 minutes drive away from Krabi and 40 minutes away from Krabi Airport.

Most budget mode of transportations to Aonang

  • Land at Krabi International Airport (KBV)
  • Take a local bus (white color) to either Krabi Town or Aonang. Only 150 baht per person. During my trip, I'm lucky. The stall desperate for sales and end up selling at 100 baht per person. No haggling needed. It's displayed in cardboard
  • Taxis to Aonang starts at 500 baht per car. Don't pay more than that. Not cost efficient for 1-2 travellers

Travelling within Aonang

  • Taxis, again not cost efficient and expensive. Nearest locations starts at 100 baht per car.
  • Rent motorcycle. Your original passport as deposits, rental is 150 baht a day. There's fine print of 25,000 baht penalty if motorcycle is lost. Cheap but risky!
  • Walking! It's walkable but don't expect to walk from Aonang to Krabi town

Sim card

Seriously, Thailand of the cheapest tourist sim card in the world. Only 150 baht for 3 days unlimited access or 180 baht for 5 days unlimited access. Too cheap to resist!!!!

Krabi & Aonang foods

  • More expensive than Bangkok, the capitol of Thailand.
  • Taste depends on your luck of finding good stalls. TIPS:- Usually, those stalls with minimal renovation offer the tastiest food. Below are some foods taken on those stalls

Hotels

Plenty of good hotels with reasonable rates. A 2000 baht a night hotel looks luxurious enough.

Highlights

1. Aonang beach

The sea waves are amazing due to it's long coast. However, the sand is black in color, thus making the sea water looks murky

2. Hilltop Restaurant

Quite romantic restaurant. Almost a must go destination if you visit Krabi. Expensive food price but you pay for the environment. On average each dishes cost around 250 baht.

3. Massages

Plenty of massage parlours to choose from. Prices starts as low as 200 baht an hour for Thai massage.

4. Unexpected discovery

There's a very good band here. They are so good that their music/singing attracts me into the bar while I'm walking on the pathway 50m away. But you can only hear them after 11pm.
